How our services are funded
The services provided by See Differently are funded in a range of ways, and there are different funding options available. We’ll be honest. Sometimes, the different funding streams and eligibility can be complex, and everyone’s circumstances are different, so if you’re not sure or need some advice, our client support team is here to help.
Broadly speaking, our services can be paid for with:
NDIS Package Funding. The National Disability Insurance Scheme provides funding to support people with disabilities. New participants need to be under 65 and have a permanent disability. You’ll need to apply for NDIS funding, meet with your NDIS planner and establish a budget to support your needs.
Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) Funding. This is an Australian government initiative designed to assist older Australians who need support to live independently at home. To access CHSP services individuals will usually undergo an assessment from a My Aged Care assessor. Once assessed individuals can choose from a list of approved service providers, like See Differently.
Fee for Service. There are many people who will not be eligible, or who may not wish to apply for any of the government funding sources listed above. We have many clients who pay for their own services. We will provide a quote and a clear outline of the services that will be provided and the cost of the services.
Medicare. In Australia, Medicare provides coverage for certain optometry services, primarily aimed at ensuring access to essential eye care. See Differently’s low vision optometry services are delivered through Medicare and are bulk billed.
Department of Veterans Affairs card holders (DVA). See Differently is an approved provider of low vision products and assistive technology to DVA card holders. The DVA also provides funding for See Differently’s OPK9 assistance dog program for veterans approved to participate in this program.
