Celebrating 140 Years | Shape The Future
The weather, grounds and atmosphere were simply perfect as Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, who serves as Patron of See Differently, hosted the highly anticipated 140 Not Out backyard cricket event at Government House earlier this week. Her Excellency welcomed guests including the Honourable Nat Cook MP, as she paused to recognise our significant milestone: 140 years of steadfast commitment to supporting South Australians who are blind or living with low vision.
At See Differently we are one of the oldest charities in South Australia and have expanded our reach to veterans and autistic children through our assistance dog program, while continually investing in cutting-edge assistive technology, employment programs, and client services.
Our Executive Director – Damian Papps remarked, “This event is about more than a game of backyard cricket. It’s a celebration of 140 years of life-changing work and the partnerships that make it all possible. We are thrilled to have the ongoing support of Her Excellency, who continues to champion our cause, and delighted to share the moment with our corporate and community partners.”
The Master of Ceremonies – Tom Rehn introduced a short exhibition match by Blind Cricket Australia players, offering attendees a unique experience of playing blind cricket. Following this were three exciting backyard cricket matches, with captains including SACA Redback plays Brendan Doggett, Campbell Thompson and Loz O’Callaghan from Triple M Breakfast, as well as Her Excellency. And if that was not enough guests also enjoyed a spread of Aussie favourites, including hot dogs, party pies, and Pimm’s, amongst the beautiful gardens of Government House.
