Meet Annette – the lucky winner of our Cause for Paws Car Lottery

Previously matched with her beloved See Differently Assistance Dog, Dave – who sadly passed away late last year – Annette’s life has taken an unexpected but joyful turn.

A veteran and long-time supporter of See Differently, Annette is the winner of our Cause for Paws Car Lottery.

Annette was revealed as the winner at See Differently’s Pup Stars & Rock Stars Music Trivia and Bingo Night on Friday 30 May 2025, and is now the proud owner of a brand-new Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid, valued at over $40,000!

“I couldn’t make it to the event, but I still wanted to give back, so I bought a ticket in April,” Annette said.

“You never think you’re going to win.”

She said she was in total shock when she got the call telling her she’d won.

“I still can’t believe how lucky I am,” she said.

“I’m so grateful to everyone involved – it’s just brilliant. Every time I get in the car, I think of everyone (at See Differently), and Dave.”

In a lovely coincidence, the car’s number plate features the letter ‘D’ – a fitting tribute to her four-legged best friend.

“The first time I met him, it was true love,” Annette, who is living with veteran PTSD, said.

“He made such a difference in my life, and everywhere he went, people loved him. He was huge – half German Shepherd and half Labrador. Even now people ask me where he is, he was a celebrity in our town.”

While she still deeply misses Dave, Annette’s win has brought a spark of joy back into her life.

“I’ve got a magnet of Dave on the side of my car so he’s with me when I’m driving around,” she said.
